Pierre Martin is a political scientist and research engineer at the Pacte social science laboratory (Grenoble), a joint CNRS-Grenoble University-IEP Grenoble research unit.
He is a specialist in French political dynamics, voting patterns, electoral geography, and the French party system, and is the author of numerous election analyses. In 2018, he published “Crise mondiale et systèmes partisans” (Presses de Sciences Po), a monograph dedicated to the contemporary decline in turnout and governing parties’ vote shares on a global scale.
Pierre Martin obtained his habilitation in 2000 with a thesis entitled “Understanding electoral change. The theory of realignments revisited.”
