Born in 1959, André Anranha Corrêa do Lago is a Brazilian diplomat with a degree in economics from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. Since March 2023, he has been Secretary of State for Climate, Energy, and the Environment at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Born in 1959, André Anranha Corrêa do Lago is a Brazilian diplomat with a degree in economics from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro.
He began his career in 1982 and has served in Madrid, Prague, Washington, Buenos Aires, and Brussels, among other places, and was ambassador to Japan (2013-2018), India (2018-2023), and Bhutan (2019-2023).
He has been working on sustainable development issues since 2001 and was director of the Energy Department (2008-2011) and the Environment Department (2011-2013), during which time he was Brazil’s chief negotiator for climate change (2011-2013) and Rio+20 (2011-2012). Since March 2023, he has been Secretary of State for Climate, Energy, and the Environment at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
He led the Brazilian delegation in negotiations at the last two COPs—in Dubai in 2023 and Baku in 2024.
