Christophe Soulard was appointed First President of the Court of Cassation on July 18, 2022. After serving as a referendary judge at the Court of Cassation from 1998 to 2008, then as first vice president of the Metz District Court (2008-2012), he returned to the Court of Cassation as a judge and then as senior judge. In 2017, he was appointed president of the Criminal Chamber of the Court of Cassation.
Biographie
Christophe Soulard began his career as a magistrate serving as a district court judge.
He served for three years at the Court of Justice of the European Communities in Luxembourg and spent six years as director of the European Centre for Judges and Lawyers, a European training institute in Community law for judges and civil servants from EU member states and candidate countries.
He was a referendary advisor to the Court of Cassation from 1998 to 2008, then first vice-president of the Metz Regional Court (2008-2012), before returning to the Court of Cassation as an advisor and then senior judge.
In 2017, he was appointed President of the Criminal Chamber of the Court of Cassation. He was installed as First President of the Court of Cassation on July 18, 2022.
