Desislava Kalcheva is a Chief Assist. Professor at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, Sofia University „St. Kliment Ohridski“. She has over 15 years of experience in the field of public finance. Her research interests focus on local governments, public investments, local elections and regional development. She is involved in national and international projects dedicated to administrative-territorial reforms, the financial discipline of municipalities and the electoral cycle, also is the one of the authors of The Routledge Handbook of Local Elections and Voting in Europe.
